The Headstone Purchasing Process
When you visit our store or speak with one of our memorial counselors about purchasing a headstone, we will ask for the following information:
- Name of the cemetery the memorial will be placed in and the number of graves you own
- The specific grave location provided to you by the cemetery (generally a grave, lot, block and/or section number)
- Name of deceased and their dates of birth and death
- If there are any other family members buried in the adjacent grave(s)
- If you answered yes to #4 above, a picture of one of the existing headstones is very helpful
With this information, we can correctly guide you through the rest of the headstone purchasing process. The topics we will cover with you next include:
- The style of memorial you prefer (flat granite, raised granite, upright monument or a flat bronze marker) We have many examples to show you on our website and in our stores if you are unsure.
- The color of granite you’d like to use
- What type of design work you’d like featured on the memorial. We have hundreds of designs in our design catalog for you to choose from or we can draw something entirely unique for your loved one.
- The epitaph-you may know exactly how you want the memorial to read or we can provide some helpful suggestions.
- Once we have gathered all of the above, we are happy to provide you with a price quote.
Most families that leave our store feel at peace and find some relief in knowing that the process of leaving this final tribute to their loved one is finally underway. We look forward to being able to help you in this same way whenever you are ready.
